Budd–Chiari Syndrome

Budd–Chiari syndrome is a rare condition caused by blockage of the veins that drain blood from the liver (hepatic veins and/or inferior vena cava). This obstruction prevents normal blood flow out of the liver, leading to liver congestion and increased pressure in the portal vein (portal hypertension).

Causes

Budd–Chiari syndrome (BCS) can be primary or secondary.

Occurs due to external compression or invasion of liver veins or inferior vena cava, usually by tumors.

Swati Pawar From fear of the unknown to a clear path forward

When a loved one is diagnosed with something like autoimmune hepatitis, it’s not just their journey; it becomes the family’s journey too. We were anxious and unsure at first, but the way everything was handled with patience, transparency, and empathy helped us stay strong. We always felt supported, especially during medication adjustments and follow-ups. It made a difficult phase much more manageable.
